The history

The Old Theatre Deli is a locally owned and run delicatessen and eaterie in the heart of Southwell, a bustling Market town famous for its Minster and for being the home of the Bramley apple.

Our passion is good food - It's what motivates us. It's what we think our customers deserve and expect - and it's what makes The Old Theatre Deli such a special place.

Housed in one of only a handful of remaining Georgian theatres still standing in England, The Old Theatre Deli combines fantastic coffee and fine food in a relaxed, welcoming and knowledgeable environment, bringing together the best of traditional and modern life with a focus on great customer service.

We feel honoured to be able to bring such a old and beautiful building back to life and to be able to share it with residents and visitors to the town alike. We have endeavoured to retain as many of the theatres original features as possible, and are fortunate to be able to display some of the original theatre posters dating as far back at 1812, plus a special photograph of the playwright George Bernard Shaw outside the theatre after he had given a performance in 1814.

We are also part of the Southwell heritage trail, which provides a self guided tour to the historically significant areas in and around Southwell. So we are the perfect stop off for refreshment as you make your way around the trail.
