Christmas is a time to give. Here at The Deli we believe that no child should ever be hungry. As we are faced with a cost of living crisis we are all familiar with how many families depend on food banks. Some families are having to make heartbreaking decisions between heating their homes or feeding their family. We hope to ease the pressure over Christmas by offering Christmas lunch to families in need. For the last three years we have donated Christmas dinners to those who need assistance. This is our pledge to give back to our community. Each year we grow and this year we are looking for like minded friends to join us.
What we do
We supply families in need with a full Christmas dinner. We box up all the trimmings and vegetables and some extra treats for the festive season. We hope by taking the pressure of the cost of Christmas our families can enjoy a meal with their children.
How does it work
We contact local schools and deal directly with them. The schools make contact with the families and advise us of families that need support, we process the order and the boxes are delivered to their door. They also have the option of collection.
We set up this project during lock down and each year we grow and help more families. We have now partnered with local businesses that are supporting our pledge. We are supporting local schools and city centres whilst also working with local food banks.
This year we are reaching out so we can support more families after having such a positive response to our boxes.
What we are looking for
We pledged 38 Christmas boxes to families in need last year. We are aiming for 50 this year. Each box contains a full Christmas dinner with extras to suit the size of the family. The box costs a minimum of £100. We are looking for like minded individuals and businesses that would like to pledge. We are also reaching out to our community to look for unused toiletries or any other useful items that we can include in the box. Finally, we need organised volunteers that would like to come along, pack and deliver with us. Obviously free coffee and cakes for all volunteers. Can you help? Please get in touch.
We are offering a community drop for any extras for our hampers this will take place on Friday 24th and Saturday 25th November. Or a pay it forward scheme where you can pledge a box. All contributions will be helping families within our community.
If you would like to get involved please get in touch and email Sarah @ info@theoldtheatredeli.co.uk
