Christmas is a time for giving, and here at The Deli we believe that no child should ever go hungry.
As the cost of living continues to rise, many families are relying on food banks more than ever. Some are being forced to make the heartbreaking decisions between heating their homes or feeding their children. This Christmas, we want to help ease that pressure by providing Christmas Lunch to families in need.
For the past four years, we have donated full Christmas dinners to those who need extra support. This is our pledge to give back to our community. Each year our project grows, and this year we are reaching out to like-minded friends and partners to join us in helping even more families.
What we do
We provide families with a hamper full of everything to make a Christmas dinner including a Turkey, vegetables, trimmings and a few festive treats. By lifting the financial strain of the season, we hope families can enjoy a special meal together.
How it works
We work directly with local schools around Nottinghamshire. They identify families who would benefit from support. We prepare the boxes, and families can choose to have them delivered to their door or collect them in person.
Since launching this project during lockdown, we have grown each year and now partner with a wonderful network of local businesses, schools and churches.
This year, after such positive feedback, we're reaching out so we can support even more families.
What we are looking for
Last year, thanks to the amazing generosity of our community, we delivered 90 Christmas hampers to families who needed a little extra support.
This year, we are aiming even higher - our goal is 150 hampers, each packed with a full Christmas dinner and thoughtful extras tailored to the size of each family.
To make this happen, we are looking for individuals and businesses willing to donate to our pledge, organised volunteers to help us pack and deliver the hampers and finally donations of unused toiletries, toys or other useful items to include in the hampers.
If you can help in any way, big or small we would love to hear from you. Please get in touch and be part of something truly special this Christmas.
We are offering a community drop for any extras for our hampers this will take place on Tuesday 25th to Sunday 30th November Or a pay it forward scheme where you can pledge a box. All contributions will be helping families within our community.
